A book I read recently is called The Drowning Pond by Catherine Forde.
It is about a girl called Nicky who doesn't have many friends.
During the summer, Nicky is in a restaurant with her big brother Luke.
The man who runs the restaurant jhas a daughter called Isabella. She is the coolest girl in the school, and Nicky wishes she was friends with her.
Bella thinks that Nicky's brother is really hot, and Luke thinks the same.
In order to charm her way into Luke arms, Bella befriends Nicky, though Nicky just thinks that Bella likes her.
Bella and her two pals, Margeret and Janet, start hanging about with Nicky all the time, though Margret and Janet dispise her, they put up with her for Bella's sake.
When they start back up at school after summer, there is a new girl in the class called Lizzie Brownie.
Nicky is staring at her and realises that Lizzie's hair is crawling with lice. In a bid to seem cool to Bella, Nicky makes a scene of it, and Lizzie gets very embarrassed and is sent down to the office, and she gets all her hair chopped off.
When Lizzie returns things start going wrong for Bella, Margaret and Janet.
Nicky thinks it is really strange that its them that it happens to and starts to believe that Lizzie Brownie is a witch.
After alot of time has passed and Bella is starting to get sick of her, Nicky suggests that they drown her in the pond at Merlock Park to see if shes a witch or not.

In the end it turns out that Lizzie was a witch.

I found this book chilling, and would defenitely read it all again.
